“My office has received community concerns and media inquiries following the recent detention and charging of a Gwinnett-based journalist.
“At this time, this matter does not fall under the jurisdiction of the Solicitor-General’s Office.
“I want to be very clear that my office is not involved in the charges referenced and will not be making any decisions related to their pursuit or dismissal.
“While I fully respect the role of news media in holding public officials accountable, it is equally important that coverage reflect accurate jurisdictional authority and procedural facts.
“Misinformation – especially when tied to matters of justice – does not serve the public interest. We remain committed to transparency and accountability in all cases within our scope.”
