The Gwinnett County Solicitor General’s Office is excited to host the “Dog Days of Summer” event throughout the month of July – a heartwarming initiative dedicated to supporting Ahimsa House and the pets of domestic violence survivors in our community.
Ahimsa House is a vital nonprofit organization that works tirelessly to provide safe shelter and care for the pets of individuals fleeing domestic violence. By removing the barrier of leaving a beloved animal behind, Ahimsa House empowers survivors to escape dangerous situations and begin their journey toward healing and safety.
The “Dog Days of Summer” event serves as a community donation drive to collect much-needed supplies for Ahimsa House. Throughout the month of July, donation boxes and bins will be in the common areas of the Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center (GJAC) and in the lobby of the Solicitor General’s Office. We invite you to help by donating items such as pet food, toys, bedding, leashes, and other essential supplies. These contributions ensure that these animals receive the love and care they deserve while their owners seek safety.
Join us in making a difference! By participating or donating, you help create a compassionate and supportive environment for both people and pets in crisis. Together, we can break the cycle of abuse and show that every member of a family – including furry ones – deserves to be safe and protected.
For more information on how to contribute or get involved, please contact the Gwinnett County Solicitor General’s Office at 770-822-8300 or visit Ahimsa House’s website at AhimsaHouse.org. Let’s work together to keep both hearts and paws safe this summer!
