The Gwinnett County Solicitor General’s Office has officially launched a new Special Victims Unit (SVU) to focus on sensitive misdemeanor cases such as stalking, sex crimes, vehicular homicide, and animal cruelty with a trauma-informed and victim-centered approach.
In interviews with WSB-TV and Fox 5 Atlanta, Solicitor General, Lisamarie N. Bristol emphasized the importance of specialized care for these cases: “These victims deserve a voice, they deserve advocacy, and they deserve justice. That is what this unit is about.”
The SVU is made up of a specially trained team including an Assistant Solicitor Generals, investigators, victim advocates, and trial assistants who are dedicated to ensuring survivors, particularly young adults and other vulnerable populations, receive the care, attention and justice they deserve.
“Our goal is to ensure people who need the resources are getting them as quickly as possible. We want every victim to know: you are not alone, and we are here to fight for you,” Bristol said.
