Gwinnett County Solicitor General’s Office Stands With Survivors on Denim Day for Sexual Assault Awareness Month
Sexual Assault Awareness Month

Today, the Gwinnett County Solicitor General’s Office proudly wore BLUE in support of Denim Day, part of Sexual Assault Awareness Month.

Denim Day is an international campaign focused on sexual violence prevention and education. It began in the 1990s after an Italian court overturned a rape conviction, suggesting the victim’s tight jeans implied consent. In response, women in the Italian Parliament wore jeans in protest—sparking a global movement.

Wearing denim today is more than a symbol, it’s a statement. It shows support for survivors and challenges harmful myths about sexual violence, including the false idea that clothing equals consent.

We stand in solidarity with survivors and remain committed to raising awareness, promoting education, and advocating for justice.
