Solicitor General Lisamarie N. Bristol has named Sheryl Harris the Director of Victim Services for the Solicitor General’s Office of Gwinnett County. Harris comes to the Solicitor General’s Office from the District Attorney’s Office of Paulding County, where she served in a similar capacity.
Harris is a dedicated human services professional with over 25 years of direct service and managerial roles. She spent 14 years with the DeKalb County Solicitor General’s Office – eleven years serving as a Victim Witness Advocate and three years as the Victim Witness Program Coordinator. She also served for three years as the Director of Victim Services for the Paulding County District Attorney’s Office. Harris holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s degree in criminal justice, specializing in behavioral studies. She is committed to advocating for victim’s rights and raising awareness about critical issues in our community.
The Victim Services professionals at the Solicitor General’s Office provide information and resources to the victims of crimes referred to this office. Each State Court division has a Victim Advocate assigned to work with both victims and witnesses. In addition, Victim Advocates are assigned to Recorder’s Court and to our Jail Court operations.
The Solicitor General’s Office is charged with the prosecution of misdemeanor cases before
the State Court of Gwinnett County and traffic and county code cases before the Recorder’s
Court of Gwinnett County. The office handled over 65,000 criminal cases in 2023.
